About Us - our begginings

Roger and Robyn designed and built the Oropi pools Complex in September 1998 with the assistance of Graham Francis Pool Builders, originally,it was a hay paddock producing 127 bales of hay twice yearly, the feed was used to feed stock of the local farmers.

After researching different types of business opportunities, Roger and Robyn decided the land would best suit and serve the locals and international visitors. With the help of a local water diviner, Ewen Cameron well Drillers, were able to locate the best source of Mineral water, with a good flow. A waste oil burner was used to heat the water to the desired temperature, which was found to be inadequate, inconsistent and labour intensive.

In the Year 2000 again with the assistance of Ewen Cameron, we drilled for hot thermal water and struck a good natural flow and temperature of 60 deg. at 530.3mtrs (5.25 lengths of a rugby field).
A submersible pump draws the hot water to the top from 42 meters which then heats the cold water through a heat exchanger, then through a filter into the pool, the flow of thermal water is then sent back to earth through another bore at a lesser temperature.

Through this system the pool temperature can be increased or decreased what ever the season which makes the pools and spas user friendly all year round.
